Milk is rich in calcium, protein and vitamins A and B and should be incorporated to a dairy free diet. Foods such as fish or cod liver oils, potatoes and vegetable oils are vitamin A enriched. Soya is high in protein, sardines, figs, watercress, almonds and other nuts are rich in calcium. Fresh vegetables and fruits are good sources of minerals and vitamins.
There are several milks that can be substituted to cow’s milk when cooking or baking. Rice milk is good for drinking, putting on cereals and thickening agent for baking. Water, juice or broth can be substituted for cow’s milk in some recipes. Goats or soy milk can also be used but be aware that this also causes food allergy.
